About Joshua Samuel Jonassaint, LCSW

I am a certified Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) therapist and have received training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). My experience includes providing psychotherapy, assessments, and treatment plans to adolescents, adults, and couples. I have worked with clients navigating co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, mood difficulties, personality patterns, and ADHD. I also provide gender-affirming care, including assessments and letters for gender-affirming surgery. My experience includes working with Queer (LGBTQIA2+) people, largely transgender, gender expansive, queer, and questioning folks, and allies.

My approach is grounded in harm reduction and a trauma-informed understanding. I am dedicated to providing affirming care for queer and trans identities. I believe in extending a hand in friendship to all I encounter, recognizing that it is often perspective that separates us, and working to bridge those differences with empathy and understanding.

I am committed to service, recognizing that my work is not for my benefit alone, but for the benefit of the community I serve. I strive to give back to the people and institutions that surround us, fostering a sense of connection and belonging.

I understand that seeking therapy can be a vulnerable process, and I am honored to walk alongside you on your journey. I offer telehealth services to increase accessibility and look forward to connecting with you.

Warmly,

Joshua Samuel Jonassaint, LCSW

 About Me

Hello, I'm Joshua Samuel Jonassaint, LCSW, and I'm the therapist behind Queer Pathways. I believe finding a therapist who truly understands and respects your lived experience is paramount, especially within the diverse and resilient queer and transgender community.

My commitment to working with the LGBTQ+ community is rooted in a strong belief in diversity and the power of embracing individual identities. I strive to create a therapeutic space that honors the mosaic of experiences within our community, recognizing that we are strongest when multiple voices are heard and valued.

Throughout my 12 years in mental health services, I've acted with integrity, taking responsibility for my work and upholding the highest ethical standards. My approach is authentic, consistent, and driven by a genuine desire to support your well-being. This is demonstrated through my experience in psychotherapy, client/service advocacy, non-profit management, and recreational therapy.

My therapeutic philosophy is centered on empowerment and justice. I am passionate about challenging the status quo and envisioning a society built on equity and self-determination. I aim to build supportive relationships that extend beyond the therapy room, connecting individuals with resources and fostering a sense of community.
